An OG w/ an OG

This one turned up in my flipping thru of stacks today; I bought it a few months ago.

It was pressed in an off putting yellow color…? And although that did not impress me, I was fascinated to be transported circa 1999, flying up and down Main Street Lake Geneva in the OG Chevy Cavalier, color most obviously teal. But I’m talking the boxy old one, not the sporty one all the rich kids were gifted by their parents around that time.

@siliconeandvinyl with Slipknot, Self-titled.

I feel like Slipknot has surprisingly stood the test of time since what feels like ages ago when this Freshman album debuted till now when they’ve remained largely commercially successful. Musically and lyrically strong, it’s well-organized orchestrated metal fucking music.

Yellow…

If you would’ve asked me then, my know nothing teenage ass would have predicted they’d be irrelevant within a matter of a few years and some change. My go to lens is typically cynicism and it was very wrong here.

I’m glad to remain a fan, much longer than anticipated.
